The FRG Factor in Soviet-American Disarmament Negotiations (1985-1986)

The article analyzes the reaction of political forces in the FRG to the most important initiatives of the USSR, put forward during the Soviet-American disarmament negotiations. It is noted that the reaction was predominantly negative, which was largely explained by distrust of Soviet foreign policy and the desire to rely on military-technological achievements in ensuring national security. The change in course of the USSR leadership, expressed in a number of concessions in negotiations with the USA, led to a softening of the anti-Soviet position of the federal government of H. Kohl.References
