The article is devoted to the study of the analysis of the economic harm of bribery of the civil community of Athens in the 5th - 4th centuries BC. Based on the results of the study, the author concludes that in the public consciousness, the economic harm from bribes was closely related to the idea of social equality within the Athenian polis, as well as the need to maintain the well-being of Athens.
