This study is devoted to the comparison of viewers’ assessments of paintings created by authors with different biographies in cases when the painting depicts scenes that are congruent and incongruent with facts from the biography. In particular, we are interested in whether the viewers have dissonance, vivid emotions, a change in the cognitive scheme in the cases when the facts from the author’s biography contradict what is depicted in their painting. And also, what are the features of the aesthetic reaction of viewers to these pieces in different conditions of their presentation. A hypothesis is put forward about the presence of differences in the expression of the aesthetic reaction to a piece whose content is related to the facts from the biography of its author, in the case of positive and negative valence of these facts. At the same time, this pattern will not be observed when the content of the painting does not correlate with the features of the biography of its author.References
