Study of the interrelation of the operational composition of thinking and Effective Parameters of Semantic Memory

Abstract

This paper presents theoretical provisions and empirical data designed to resolve one of the central problems of modern metacognitivism - the problem of the presence of basic metacognitive processes of their own substantive content and its fundamental difference from the content of primary cognitive acts. The obtained experimental results convincingly confirm the hypothesis of the existence of such autonomous content. The position is experimentally substantiated according to which, along with traditionally differentiated metacognitive autoprocesses, there is another - qualitatively specific variety of metaprocesses, designated by the concept of metacognitive heteroprocesses. They are formed as a product of the synthesis of two different “primary” cognitive processes - in particular, the processes of thinking and memory. The study identifies and meaningfully interprets specific mechanisms underlying these processes. Synergetic effects of the interaction of fundamental mental operations and semantic memory processes, which form the procedural basis of mnemonic tools, are established. From these positions, the ideas about the basic - compensatory functions of mnemonic means in relation to semantic memory and the procedural mechanisms underlying them are expanded and deepened.
