The memory of Russia and Russians in the urban space of Paris: toponymic and memorial aspects

This research aims to explore the unique ways in which historical memory of Russia and Russians is reflected in the toponymic and memorial objects of Paris’s urban landscape. The article reviews the historical stages and events that have shaped the naming and transformation of streets, parks, squares, and other urban elements, encompassing significant milestones such as the Napoleonic Wars, the Crimean War, World War II, and the Cold War. The author concludes that Paris’s urban environment captures the complexity of Russia-France relations through distinctive toponymic designations and memorial complexes, contributing to the preservation of historical memory and fostering international recognition of the shared destiny between the two nations.References
