Activities to protect the interests of business in relations with government authorities have a history of more than a century and a half in American political thought and practice. It was the United States that became the founders in the systematic study of lobbying. This is how this type of activity is designated in Western science. In Russia, the protection and promotion of the interests of economic agents in relations with government authorities is designated by the term GR (government relations) in order to reduce the negative component associated with the suppression of competition and the possibility of corruption. Analysis of the theoretical and methodological foundations allows us to conclude that this type of activity has been thoroughly studied in the Western neo-institutional paradigm and is associated with the names of such scientists as M. Olson, D. North, etc. GR as a Russian version of activities to promote the interests of national business does not have such solid theoretical and methodological foundations, but work in this area is underway. Here you can name the names of such domestic researchers as L. V. Smorgunov, P. A. Tolstykh, A. A. Degtyarev. GR is going through a phase of rapid development; its strategies are now in demand not only to protect the interests of business in domestic markets, but it is used more and more often on international platforms. For example, such international associations as the EAEU and BRICS+ are relevant for Russia today. The purpose of this article is to analyze the features of GR activities in the context of its demand on the platforms of the most promising international association for Russia, BRICS+.References
