Semantic history of the lexemes that are included in the center of the lexico-semantic group of the adjectives of taste in Russian language

Abstract

This article focuses on the diachronic description of adjectives with the meaning of taste in Russian language. The article considers the semantic history of adjectives, which constitute the center of the lexico-semantic group of adjectives of taste. The research is conducted using the comparative-historical method, the method of component analysis based on the following lexicographical sources: The Large Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language, The Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language edited by D. N. Ushakov, The Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language, Dictionary of the Russian Academy , Dictionary of the Russian language XI-XVII centuries, Etymological dictionary of the Russian language by Max Fasmer. Based on the analysis of the conceptual and semantic structure of 20 adjectives of taste in the historical aspect, conclusions are drawn about the main trends in the development and transformation of the meaning of taste of these lexemes: the appearance or loss of the semes and the sememes, the change in the status of the meaning of taste in the semantic structure of the adjective (from the nuclear meaning to the peripheral and vice versa). Appeal to the etymological dictionary allowed us to draw conclusions about the originality / secondary nature of the taste meaning of the studied adjectives. The article also showed the changes in the spelling appearance of some adjectives in the history of their development.
