Abstract

Within the frameworks of sociological research, the attitude of students of pedagogical universities and classical universities to the future profession of a teacher and to the program “Zemsky (Rural) Teacher” is studied. The authors conducted a sociological study at the Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushinsky and Yaroslavl State University named after P. G. Demidov in 2019. In addition to the survey, a number of biographical interviews with students were held and a survey of positional experts was conducted. It was revealed that only about 25 % of students plan to work at school after graduation from universities. As part of the study, it was found that about 25% of students plan to get a job as a teacher in a school, as their parents or relatives once worked as teachers. At the same time, they are not going to use the program “Zemsky (Rural) Teacher” and move to the countryside, but are going to work at the place of residence, or at the same school that their parents used to work at. In addition, it was revealed that girls for the most part than young men plan to take part in the program “Zemsky (Rural) Teacher”. In such a way, 7 % of young men and 16 % of girls (Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushinsky) and 8 % of young men and 14 % of girls (Yaroslavl State University named after P. G. Demidov) plan to take part in the “Zemsky (Rural) Teacher” program, but not mainly because of possible benefits and financial benefits, but because of persistent recommendations from parents or reference personalities. Part-time students are less likely than full-time students to take part in the “Zemsky (Rural) Teacher” program. In conclusion, the article proposes activities aimed at attracting and securing young teachers in the school.
