Expressive potential of set phrases in modern print media

Abstract

The article examines using of stable verbal-nominal combination in the print media. The role of nominal component semantics and attributive distributors of verb-and-noun phrases in the formation of the evaluative statement is shown. Particular attention is paid to the ironic use of verb-and-noun phrases based on a violation of the stylistics homogeneity of the text, on the discrepancy internal content of the designated, on the discrepancy of the action to the object to which this action is directed. The expansion of the nominative potential of verb-and-noun phrases in modern Russian language is associated with the acquisition of stable combinations of evaluative values. The inclusion of verbal-nominal combinations in evaluative statements proves the tendency to expressivization and democratization of modern print media language.
